GridData PROJECT (Jun/2025 - May/2028)

Developing a test and validation framework for data-driven methods that transform power grid sensor measurements into actionable information for grid operators.

To ensure the safe and reliable operation of the electricity grid with widespread distributed generation, grid operators must maintain situational awareness on short time scales to interpret large measurement datasets.

GridData will quantify data from power grid sensor networks, develop models, and a framework to test and validate candidate data analysis methods. The framework will be demonstrated using multiple data analysis methods involving five different grid phenomena. Well-documented, publicly available test datasets will be created using both real and simulated grid measurements and disseminated to measurement supply chains, standards developing organisations, and end-users across Europe.

The overall objective of the project is to create a test and validation framework in order to underpin the reliability and trustworthiness of analysis methods that turn data originating from power grid sensor networks into actionable information for grid operators.

GridData (24DIT05) is funded by the European Partnership on Metrology, through the European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET).
